When Dalton Trumbo appeared before the the House Un-American Activities Committee, he refused to give it what it wanted: “an act of political purification hitherto characteristic of fascist states.”

Brian Dennehy stars in a new play about the blacklisted screenwriter. Dennehy is associated with another famous HUAC refusenik, Arthur Miller, having played Willy Loman in the most recent revival of Death of a Salesman.
